  • I grew up with dogs, cats, etc. as pets. I just cannot believe that an aggresive, killing animal, as shown by the news accounts of pit bull injuries and deaths, in 2011 pit bulls killed 23 and maimed 196 in the U.S., is so cherished by this evidently violence lovin culture

  • At the same time over the last several years when about 130 people were killed; I would say that at least 1000's have been bitten over the years, maybe not to the point of disfigurement, but some short of that and the psychological trauma from it.

  • Dogs have been known to also. But you make a good point; humans own violent/vicious animals as "pets" in an insane and paranoid world full of wmd's to destroy others and themselves.

  • So maybe your dog can let us know why all these pit bulls are killing and maiming people. So if your pit bull bites, maims, etc. someone, it is you who would be the "stupid" owner, not your dog's fault at all, although the teeth marks and blood in the mouth will be some contradictory evidence.

  • Some do, and especially for pit bulls, those gentle dogs who have killed and maimed thousands, because every owner was "bad".

  • Hopefully not pit bulls. Hopefully not loaded guns. Yeah it's scary sh't; as if living in the neighborhood with pit bulls is NOT SCARY SH'T! Read the articles about killings and maimings. You don't put sharks in a pool where you swim, I bet. It's different in the wild.

  • Just look at deaths and injuries from pit bulls, who are descended from wild animals, as are more gentler "dogs'. Why does every person in every neighborhood have to be concerened that a "pit bull" or same type can break loose and attack and maim or kill them.

  • Good post leatherneck. Pit bulls are vicious dogs and should be banned in this country, as they have been in several cities here and in England. Pit bulls attacked someone near here in her own yard and she died an agonizing death over a period of months.
